Story behind the Venetian dolls?
I recently went to Venice and they have these little dolls that looks like jesters at the souvenir stands. I saw it in a movie before and they said it represents love or something like that but I was wondering if anyone know the story behind it? or why it is so popular in venice?
The souvenir dolls outfits are based on the masks and costumes worn during Venice’s Carnivale (Mardi Gras). I’ve never heard of them representing anything specific, but could be wrong. They are popular because they are small and colourful and cute presents for tourists to take back home.
