The truck verses the baby doll?
Have you given your child the option? Today while shopping I saw these cute little baby dolls that cry and laugh…my son pointed at them and when I passed it he hugged it tight so I put it in the cart. Then passing the truck section, he pointed at these and thankfully they were on clearance sale so I bought him a couple.
When we got home I passed him the dolly and a truck just to see what he’d do. He hugged the doll and gave her a kiss, then threw her over the stair gate and took the truck and kept himself busy for about 45 minutes. lol
I guess we know what he prefers.
Have you tried both options with your child? What did they prefer?
Our boy plays with dolls and wears nail polish sometimes, he also plays with trucks and footballs and ”boy stuff” too and had long hair til recently, which he wants to grow back. We want him to be a free spirit and do the activities in life that make him happy. My wife and I dont care for rigid gender roles, we both cook and clean, etc, and ours kids will too regardless of gender.
By the way dolls/trucks is a cultural thing, Ive been in different countries and its not the same, for example in vietnam when I was there the boys chose the pink and purple shirts first before the other colors because they’d simply never been taught ”blue is for boys”, it’s all about how a child is raised and what they are told. Also in Vietnam the girls there picked up bugs and played with them with no qualms, but girls in america usually run yelling at the first sign of a spider, because they are raised seeing other women doing so.
