a must see place for shopper like me in shanghai?
im going to shanghai and im a shopper haha, so basically im searching for a must see place in shanghai, i probably will go to the barbie house and others but any stores or areas in shanghai for shoppers like me? (the closer to nanjing the better)
There’s a bunch of malls and on nanjing rd. such as plaza 66 etc most of these are all high-end brands or well known international brands.
IFC in PuDong also has all the high-end brands.
HuaiHai Rd and XuJiaHui – a looooot of stores but pretty generic stuff. H&M, Zara etc.
XinTianDi is a nice place to hang out but almost everything is overpriced compared to the rest of the city.
ChangLe Rd. is a good place to look around for some young local designers.
TaiKang Rd. is a pretty chill place to check out for small art galleries, jewelry shops etc. and has a bunch of cafes.
Then there’s QiPu Rd. which basically has EVERYTHING for cheap prices especially if you bargain. Although usually very crowded and you need to pick things out to make sure the quality’s decent and there are no problems. Basically, it’s very time consuming. but if you’re up for that type of shopping then go for it.
ChengHuangMiao/Yu Garden also has a section thats like QiPu but usually with more Chinese-y stuff and holiday themed stuff like if its close to christmas or chinese new year. But there’s also cultural stores that’s not in a little stall/QiPu style fashion. This also is a tourist destination so a lot of people. Hard to find taxis.
If you’re specifically looking for something, most specialty stores are all clumped together. for instance theres a street for music related stuff, a street for art supplies, street for makeup and hair supplies……
OR. just walk around. there’s a lot of little shops that are really cool on small streets and random places
