Beginning scrapbooking…?
I want to begin scrapbooking. It’s passed my mind before now I actually want to start. My friend actually got me to want to start yesterday when she was working on a scrapbook for a girl in Mali.
I have some general ideas what I need but I’d like to know what you guys think I need. I don’t have a lot of money to spend on it so can I use just like dollar store stuff or is it not good enough quality? So can you please give me some suggestions of what to guy and a estimate price on each item.
Any tips? I plan to just have a basic scrapbook. I think I’m going to start with a book of all my family members. Then maybe do have a lifeevents scrapbook. Then like a dog or cat themed one. Please any advise you have is welcome.
Hi, your scrapbooking basic tool kit should include, Paper trimmer (Friskars sells some nice ones), Ruler, small scissors, Journaling pen, adhesive, and paper. now it all depends on what you want out of your scrapbook .. Simple Page Design
THE IMPORTANCE OF AUALITY PRODUCTS
As you select and purchase products to use in your album, it’s important to use only those that help to preserve your memories for log-term enjoyment. Chose Archival, Acid free and lignin-free products. Archival products are free of those elements that over time will deteriorate your precious memories, Acid is a harmful, destructive element that will ruin a scrapbook page and photos over time. Always select lignin-free paper for your scrapbook — paper which has had all lignin (the natural acidic glue found in wood pulp) removed. Most lignin–free paper is also buffered, meaning it contains an additional layer of protection for your photos.
HERE ARE TEN EASY STEPS TO CREATING A SCRPABOOK LAYOUT::
1. Select 3-5 related photos (per page). Choose
photos with similar themes and colors or use
one large, stand-alone photo.
2. Choose papers. Select background paper, then coordinating matte papers. Double and triple
mattes offer more depth to your pages.
3. Decide on accent and/or focal point stamps.
Photo frame stamps, focal point, or border
stamps add excitement to any page.
4. Crop Photos. Use fancy paper edgers,
templates, corner rounders or straight lines to
crop your photos. You can also crop the photo
right around the subject, carefully trimming
around the edges. Not all photos should be
cropped:
• Never crop a Polaroid photo because of
chemical leakage.
• Don’t trim away historical background such
as cars, furniture or landscape that will help
describe the period of time, location, etc.
5. Cut matte papers for cropped photos. Mattes
could silhouette the shape of the photo or be
used as an offset, accent piece. Use solid
colored or background & texture papers.
6. Arrange photos on the page. Move photos
around until you find a pleasing arrangement.
7. Decorate pages with stamps. Beautiful borders,
corners and titles can be added with stamps.
After journaling your page, add accents and
texture stamps as needed.
8. Secure paper and photos with acid-free adhesive.
Use both permanent (photo stickers) and
removable (photo corners) adhesives.
9. Add journal pages. A variety of journaling
techniques and colors will add variety to pages.
Be sure to include a date on every page.
10. Slip completed page into a page protector
