How do you get a car inside a rental truck for transport? How can you secure it for safe transport?

I have two cars that need to be moved. I’ll tow one behind the truck with a tow dolly but would like to put the other car (convertible) inside the truck for transport. How do you get it in the truck and how do you secure it so it doesn’t bounce around while driving?

You have a couple of options. there are rental trucks that dont have the wheel wells. You could go to a freight company and ask to use their docks. If there is a feed company nearby you might go there.
Once you have the car inside there should be some type of tie downs in the corners of the truck. Get high quality straps to ratchet down the car. Ratchet down the rear real well, allowing some room in front so the front of the car does not rub the truck during transport. then ratchet down the front in an x fashon. meaning tie the left front of the car to the right front of box. and vice versa…
If you can only find a truck with wheel wells then you can build a ramp with 2x 12′ s so that the car will ride on the boards not the floor of the truck just build framing the same hight of the wheel wells and have the boards sit on the wells and have the framing on the front and rear of the truck’s box. I have seen it done several times…. just make sure that the car is very secure prior to transport and check several times in transit. good luck.
