Say I was going to create a thought lab, what objects would I have on my desk?
say for instance I was going to create a thought lab, I would need an area to write my thoughts down, and I would have many thought inducing objects, such as:
a metronome, a prism, a cube, a telescope, a magnifying glass, a rubrics cube, a tesseract, a star map, a globe, an assortment of gems, a compass, a russian doll game, an hourglass, a pair of dice, a spinning top, some magnets, a Kaleidoscope, what else?
what list can you come up with of thought provoking objects that could sit on a desk?
the more the better, let me see your creativity!
Your list is heavily weighted towards the physical sciences. Try to include a selection of objects from the wider field of human knowledge. That way you can try to relate concepts from totally different fields to come up with new ideas. As well as having things on your desk, you could also have essential posters on your walls.
To balance out your mental machinations, I would include the following:
Poster of the periodic table of the elements
Model of the dna molecule
Poster list of the human chromosomes
Portrait of Charles Darwin
Bust of Beethoven
Poster diagram of the essential amino acids and their codons (try to memorize it)
Poster diagram of the Earth’s geological timescale (memorize that too)
A Bible
A copy of the Apocrypha (really interesting stuff)
Working microscope (not a toy one)
Radio valve, transistor and a superceded cpu eg 486 (to remind you of the recent past)
Model of Asimo (to remind you of our future)
Cheers!
