why does my cat paw the floor by his food and water like he is covering somethng?
My cat is 2ys. The last 6 months he has started pawing the floor like when he covers his litter. I have cleaned the floor thinking maybe his butt left a scent, cleaned the placemat they are on, sprayed area, of course vacuumed . I am using Chicken Soup and have been since I got him at just under a yr. Nothing I can think of has changed! He is a Rag Doll so usually goes along with anything
My cat does this all the time. It’s a natural instinct to bury the remainder of their food. Lions and other big cats do this in the wild when they are finished eating so as not to attract scavengers or anybody that might want to steal their prey. I actually have 2 cats and only one of them exhibits this behavior. He happens to be the one we found as a stray. The one we got from the shelter as a baby doesn’t do this!
