What is the value of a 1921 peace dollar and where is the mint mark?
There is no mint mark on a 1921 Peace dollar. This was the first year, and coins were only struck at Philadelphia. The final year Morgans were struck at all three Mint branches.
The 1921 is one of the keys to the Peace series. In Mint State 64 uncirculated, as graded by the top professional grading companies, they are selling from $400 to $600, depending on the eye appeal, which is affected by toning and the strength of the strike, which varies from weak to strong with this issue. A nice blazing-white 64 with a strong strike can go for over $600.
A circulated coin, uncertified and in the Fine to Very Fine range, from $35 to $50.
If you look at eBay, you will see quite a few ’1921 Peace’ dollars that sold for $20 to $30, but if you take a closer look, you’ll see that they are all either Morgan dollars or a Peace dollar with a different date. There are sellers out there who don’t have a clue as to what they’re doing.
