Question about Arthur Miller’s A View from the Bridge”?
I have managed to gather and analyse the symbolism of Catherine’s high heels, the phallic cigar, Eddie’s death and the many perspectives of the Paper Doll theory, but I don’t understand the Madonna motive. I know that Madonna is the virgin, she symbolises purity and all that jazz, but what has it got to do with Eddie and Catherine?
Thanks loads in advance. xxxx PS: It would be great if someone could also explain how it is linked to masculinity.
