What kind of Jacket should I buy? East Bay/San Francisco, California resident during winter?

I’m living in the East bay where it gets really cold, foggy, and rainy for most of the winter. The first big rain is coming this week and I have no jacket for this weather. I’m trying to get a nice one that will match most things and keep me warm and dry while looking nice. I’d like to spend less than 150 dollars…a perfect price would be near 100. I’m closest to Walnut Creek, Berkeley, Concord, Oakland, and San Francisco. Could someone help me out…maybe give me a brand/type and any stores with really good prices in my area?

honestly, you would be better off buying a couple of options, as no one single coat will be useful for the bay area winters. I would in vest in a good rain jacket.Eddie Bauer or Rei are best for those. If you catch Eddie Bauer in December, they often times have really good deals on their weatheredge parkas. That with layers under it like fleece are best for rain from January – March.

for something nicer when it is not raining, a wool coat of some kind, like a peacoat or a knee length car coat type thing would be good. Try LL Bean or Lands End for those.

And another jacket that is also useful and warm is a leather jacket.

the key to bay area weather is layers. It never really gets below the 40s during the day time and high 20s in the extreme cold of winter at night.

clostest eddie bauer to you is SF. Rei is in Concord at the Willows shopping center. You could try Burlington coat factory in concord for the leather jacket and/or wool coat.

There is just no simple answer to outer wear in the Bay Area.
