Hi guys, I would like to hear some healthy, cheap meal ideas!?
5 or 6 dollars would be my budget..I want to start eating healthier but I’m a college student and mc Donald’s dollar menu is usually what’s in my budget lol
Several ideas that can help you:
Anything with lots of beans tends to be very cheap and filling for the price. A can of kidney beans runs about 50-60 cents and probably lasts about 2 meals.
As much as you can, don’t go out. Even dollar menu food is expensive compared to what you can pull off at home.
Look for “manager specials” on meat in the supermarket. This is meat they have a lot of and is getting on the older side — still okay to eat but won’t last. Take it home and cook it that night.
Especially, look for sales on fruits and vegetables. This happens in large part because supply is on the rise, which means that the produce is in season.
Buy large bags of potatoes and onions; you can use these to stretch most dishes to make more food for less money.
Ramen noodles (and pasta in general) is a good buy. Not very healthy by itself, but if you just add some red pepper flakes and a few drops of sesame oil (plus any leftover meat you might have) it becomes much tastier.
