DO YOU THINK I CAN BECOME A COMMERCIAL MODEL?

I love getting dolled up taking photos. When Im bored I usually think to find new outfits, make t shirts, do my makeup out of the norm its what I LOVE!!! But I have been thinking of doing commercial modeling for years. I have gone to several agencies but they want money up front and that is the point that I back down. My height is 5′ 3′ and weight 105 pnds

& ” ” it commerical modeling not “modeling”, note im short : )

First off, read www.newmodels.com to understand what the industry is all about & to prevent yourself from getting scammed. The good thing is that you already know that a legit agency will NEVER ask you for money to be represented by them. Good for you for not falling for that one! :) The unfortunate thing is that at 5’3″, you actually are too short for any kind of modeling, sorry. I am not trying to be mean when I say it, just realistic based on experience. “Petite” modeling is for girls who are 5’6″ or 5’7″. Some agencies might even take you if you are 5’5″, but that’s about the lowest they go. Keep in mind that if you want to be in front of a camera, actors do NOT have a height requirement and you could look for a “talent” agency & be an actor for TV or movies. ;) That’s another way to still be in front of a camera without having to deal with the height requirement and those TV ads pay good money! :)

You can still enjoy modeling as a hobby though. If you are over 18, you can start up a profile at Modelmayhem.com & start networking thru there. I have met some awesome people (including the guy who wrote the newmodels.com site) and have learned a lot about the industry from the people I met. AND there are some incredible models on there who are around your height who are in very high demand because they are very good in front of a camera & extremely photogenic. :)

Keep in mind also that if you like to make clothes or put together outfits, you could make try being a “stylist” or fashion designer, OR if you love doing makeup, have you ever thought about going to cosmetology school to learn how to be a makeup artist? There are tons of different ways to get involved in the industry without being an agency model. :) Best of luck! :)
