Why did some tv show got cancelled? etc Dollhouse.?
Let’s take an example. Dollhouse. A great show from Joss Whedon, but got cancelled in the end.
I know the reason for most show cancellation. If I’m not mistaken is because the episodes recieve low ratings.
My question is that from whom the episodes were rated by? Is it the viewers, or the professionals?
Sorry for my bad english, hope you guys understand.
I really wanna more of Eliza Dushku. But this is her last television, I don’t think there is a paperwork planning on for her next tv shows like this. I love to see in rush action show like Dollhouse and Tru Calling, but both was cancelled.
In the US, ratings are determined by the AC Nielsen Company. They track the viewing habits of households that represent a statistical cross-sample of the population at large, and then use algorithms to extrapolate the actual average number of viewers. There are details on the process at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nielsen_ratings
In the case of Dollhouse, the series was savaged by the critics for bad writing, bad acting and generally being bad. The show had bad ratings to begin with and lost millions of viewers every week. For some reason audiences had trouble dealing with a show that glorified rape and sexual slavery and also had a weak lead and a dull storyline. By the end it was down to around 2 million viewers, which is bad even by cable TV standards.
