What are the best kind of black jazz shoes (tie or slip on) to wear for the play “Hello, Dolly!”?
I need to get new ones for the show because my old ones are too small. They were slip-ons, with the two piece sole, but the toes of them were kind of square, and since i sort of have bunions, my feet look kind of weird in them… any suggestions, and also if you could give me suggestions of dance shoes with 2 inch heels (black) for use as a grand homme in a production of “Once On This Island,” that would be great too. Thanks sooooooooooooooooooooo much!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tie shoes tend to be more flattering on the leg, and have more room for adjustment than slip-on shoes.
Capezio has some good character shoes that are affordable and of a decent quality. The Footlights are no-nonsense workhorses that can be used for both rehearsal and performance.
Discount Dance Supply – http://www.discountdance.com/frame_set.php3?mf=/dancewear/page_SHOE_p1.html – has a good selection, and if you call them, they’ll be happy to answer any questions about fit, flexibility, and lifespan of any of their shoes. They also have great prices!
