What does this poem mean?
I read this poem somewhere and I had no idea what it meant!!
The boy in the bubble has lots of cool toys
made of iron and steel and graphite-alloys.
His GI-Joe set is totally rad!
Such realistic toys for a such a young lad.
If you look close enough, you might think they’re real,
with squishable parts and blood that congeals!
All of his play-things are remote-controlled.
That’s just how things work in the Bubble household.
So the boy in the bubble’s a happy young man
as he plays with his dolls by himself in the sand.
“Lookee here dad!” The boy cries with glee.
“My hummer got blow’d-up by that IED!”
“Good for you son.” The old man replies,
his own bubble warm, resting his eyes.
So the boy in the bubble returns to his play,
discarding each toy as it breaks or decays.
I think that this poem is meant as a fun poem. It talks about a boy who loves to play with his toys. It has a great beat because of the rhyming. I enjoyed reading it. I think that this also talks about in any household (in this poem they talk about a bubble household) there will be toys that won’t last forever; they will decay and break. Then a new toy replaces the lost one. So, its basically saying everything has to go at sometime but after it is gone it is replaced by something that is sometimes better then it was before.
