So there is this haunted doll in Japan whose nails and hair grows…?
My friend told me about this doll in Japan. It currently recides in a shrine and is being taken care of by shrines people. The doll is supposedly possessed by a little girls spirit, which is why it’s hair and nails is able to grow.
Does anyone know what this doll is named? My cousin and I are trying to look up more information about it, plus a picture please.
“I was surfing around the Internet and I came across this. It is a little disturbing, and weird. In Hokkaido Japan there is suppose to be what is called a Okiku-Chan doll that has been in the Mannen Temple since 1938 when its owner died. The weird and creepy thing about it, is that it’s hair grows and is cut annually in a special ceremony The hair has been analyzed and they say is in fact human hair! I tried to see if I could find out more about this but all I could find was that the Okiku is a Japanese ghost and the legend behind it which goes as follows: Okiku works as a maid at the home of the samurai Tessan Aoyama. One day while cleaning a collection of ten precious ceramic plates, which is a family treasure, she accidentally breaks one of them. The outraged Aoyama kills her and throws the corpse into an old well. Every night afterwards, Okiku’s ghost rises from the well, slowly counts out nine plates and then breaks into heartrending sobs, over and over and over again, tormenting the samurai. Finally, vengeance is wrought when Aoyama goes insane. So I don’t know if I can find out anything else, but I would love to know more about the doll so if anyone can help me, Please let me know. Thanks”
