Making a parachute. Need just a little help please?

i’ve been assigned a physics project to make a parachute for a barbie doll that will be thrown off of my schools roof. Its graded on the acceleration of the barbie. The lower the acceleration of my barbie, the higher the grade. What should i make the parachute out of? like what material? i’ve heard cardboard, and maybe that’s good i’m not sure.

You need to increase the surface under the parachute to increase what is called “Drag”. The more drag force you have the less your acceleration will be. Try little cuts on the parachute instead of a hole, this might help you better.
