What do you think?
I just came back from a friends house, there was a bunch of us moms there, chit chatting, well the kids were off playing. The lady who owns the house has about 5 cabbage patch dolls from when she was a young girl and has kept them in perfect condition. She lets no one play with them, not even her two daughters, and they stay in her room on a stand. Well we were there one of the older kids went in and took the dolls and was playing with them with the other kids. The ladys child came and told her and she went and took them back, a few of the kids got upset, as most kids do when you take something from them, and their parents were mad that she took the dolls from them. She explained the situation, and they told her to let go. One reason she keeps them is because each was bought from a special person in her life, and they have passed on, so they have a lot of meaning to her. Do you think she should let go, or were these other parents wrong in making a fuss?
the other parents were wrong, a person has the right to keep special things without having to risk their destruction by children – kids have to learn that not everything is to share – would those parents have let their kids have some of gramma’s medication if they thought it was for eating? it’s not much different, kids must learn that even thingss that seem like toys might not be, and should respect another person’s things…
