What are they all eager for, driving so fast
That I see them only momentarily ? They are
Wholly desirable for half a heartbeat

They have such style , such red nails! They are so neat!
But though they appear to drive at a dangerous speed
They do not do anything at random,that’s for sure

So keep your shirt on, they are spoken for
They are as bright and lively as advertisements
For cigarettes or petrol or soap

But there is no danger, and there is no hope
Those reckless smiles have been carefully painted
They are that sort of doll

Everything ,but everything is under control

Tell me why you think the second stanza is about his feelings for these splendid girls?
My answer? I think it emphasises the splendid girls bit more!
