Check out www.costco.com and look at their car rental discounts. Do you have a Costco membership? Even if you don’t, I can also tell you that the rental companies have NEVER asked to see my Costco membership card.
They give huge discounts off prices. Usually, Alamo ends up being the cheapest, and Costco gives 20% off their rates, plus usually some other discount if you rent over a weekend, or for so many days. I always compare against Travelocity, the rental companies own site and Expedia, but Costco is almost always the cheapest.

By the way, if you have problems when you click on the links and the rental company page does not come up (I did!), it is because you have “block pop-ups” enabled, so hold your “ctrl” key down when clicking your mouse.
