Has anyone used Pods or a company like that to move across country?
I am going to move from ohio to tallahassee florida. I know a truck would cost about 800 dollars to rent. we are kind of interested in pods or a similar company. has anyone used them to move across country-and how much did they cost
We are movers based in Cincinnati and have a lot of experience with these. They are great for a lot of moves and you can even hire professionals through the AMLPA to help you load and unload it.

There are also services that will bring a semi trailer to you, and then when you are done loading it they deliver it to FL where you can unload it.
As far as mobile storage containers (their technical name) go, there are a quite a few companies that offer that service.
PODS is the most expensive but also the most widespread. Most of there boxes are made of 2x4s, plywood and plastic.
We recommend UNITS http://www.unitscincinnati.com/ because they are better built and not as “corporate” so they have much better service. They have metal floors, steel support beams and fiberglass sides
PackRat is another choice, better built than PODS but not as good as UNITS. PackRat has more locations though.
In the end go with the service you feel the most comfortable with. Make sure you have PLENTY of blankets. We tell our customers 2 blankets per 1ft of truck or container. That means a 16′ UNIT would need about 30 blankets. Also about 100 feet of 1/2″ rope.
