Would you preedict that a clone produced a s Dolly was would be a cayvon cooopy of the animal from which the n
nucleus was obtained? What factors might causw the two sheep to differ? What variables might ccause a human clone to differ from the individual who donated the genetic material?
obviously dolly the sheep wasn’t an exact carbon copy of it’s mother it got arthritis at a surprisingly young age. A clone is never going to be an exact carbon copy of its parent, it will be very similar but not identical. It is as little a carbon copy as identical twins are carbon copies of each other. We are not only shaped by genes, but also to a great extent by environmental factors. That already starts in the uterus, and goes on ones entire life. In addition the genetic material of a body cell can have already acquired modification of its genetic material which are due to it’s age, which will be transmitted to the offspring. Those wouldn’t be present in a normal egg cell. Hypothetically there could be mutations in the nucleus donor cell which will not influence it’s function as a body cell (as that gene may be silenced in this type of cell), but could have an effect in the offspring. I am sure there are a large number of websites out there if you look up cloning of Dolly and all the problems they had which can tell you more. Happy googling.
