How much is a 1922 U.S. Silver Dollar worth?
I have a 1922 U.S. Silver Dollar. I cannot tell a Mint marking on it though. It is kind of dirty and needs cleaned. Are there any ways of cleaning coins without damaging them? There is a tiny letter below the neck line…I think it is an “F”.
There is no way to clean a coin without causing more damage. The 1922 Peace dollar is very common and to clean it would take away any collector value it may have. The mint mark if any is on the eagle side below the word One. The F stands for the designer Anthony de Francisci. Right now with silver down your coin has a value of around $10 to a dealer. It would pay you in the long run to keep it for several more years and keep an eye on thevalue of silver. Since it is a common date it’s value tends to be the value of the silver in it. Cleaning silver coins also takes away some of the silver, that is why they are weighed by dealers.
