My Predictions= Lesnar via KO, Alves via KO, Dan Henderson via KO, Paulo Thiago via submission, Yoshihiro Akiyama via submission, Stephan Bonnar via KO, Mac Danzig via unanimous decision, Jon Jones via KO, Dong Hyun Kim via KO, CB Dollawaya via submission, Matt Grice via decision
Lesnar vs. Mir – The first time these two fought, Lesnar was dominating the fight and then Mir caught an exposed leg and submitted him. Lesnar has more experience and won’t make the same twice. Lesnar via TKO in round 2.
St. Pierre vs. Alves – Alves has a chance if he can catch GSP with a big punch. That’s really been the only thing to stop him in the past and if anyone at 170 is going to do it, it’s Alves. Don’t see it happening though. St. Pierre is either going to submit him, or win an easy decision. I’ll go with the submission . St. Pierre via submission in round 2
Henderson vs. Bisping – I don’t think Henderson is as great as some people make him out to be, and I also don’t think Bisping is as over-rated as some people claim. That being said, Henderson is about the worst match-up possible for The Count and he’s got very little chance of emerging victorious here. Henderson via Unanimous decision.
Fitch vs. Thiago – Fitch has lost 1 fight in the UFC. That 1 fight was to St. Pierre. Nothing against Paulo Thiago, but Georges St. Pierre isn’t just a league above Thiago, he’s about 3 leagues above him in terms of what he’s accomplished. Thiago looked bad in his fight with Koscheck until he caught him with the punch, and that’s not going to work on Fitch. Thiago may get a couple of submission attempts in, but Fitch will overpower him and beat him with the ground and pound. Fitch via TKO in round 2.
Akiyama vs. Belcher – Akiyama has been matched up with a lot of sub-par fighters as of late before coming to the UFC. It’s hard to know what this guy really has left. He’s also never fought in a UFC ring whereas Belcher has. Akiyama is the favorite, and deservedly so, and I won’t be shocked at all if he wins this fight. I don’t think he will though. Belcher will catch him with a shot in the stand-up and put him down. Belcher via KO round 3.
Coleman vs. Bonnar – It’s sad to see one of the guys who helped make the UFC big keep pushing on when it’s clear he’s got nothing left. Bonnar seems to be declining as well but he’s 12 years younger than Coleman and it will show. Coleman, despite what he claims, won’t have the endurance to go 3 rounds, and he won’t have the power to KO Bonnar. It will be an ugly fight, but Bonnar wins via TKO in round 2.
Danzig vs. Miller – It’s pretty widely thought that Danzig has to win this fight, or else he’ll be looking for employment elsewhere. Unfortunately for him, Miller is no pushover. Miller via submission in round 1.
Jones vs. O’Brien – O’Brien will attempt to bore Jones to death. It seems to be his approach to every fight, but Jones is too strong to allow O’Brien to simply lay on top of him as he likes to do. Jones via KO in round 2.
Kim vs. Grant – After Karo Parisyan tested positive on his drug test, his split decision win against Kim was changed to a no contest. Kim should’ve won that fight by decision anyway in my opinion, but with the no contest, he retains his undefeated record still. Grant is good, and fights a contrasting style to Kim, so he’s certainly got a chance here, but I don’t see it happening. Kim via TKO in round 3.
Dollaway vs. Lawlor – Dollaway does everything better than Lawlor. Stand up, ground game, defense…you name it and he’s better at it than Lawlor. He could win this fight in many ways, but I gotta pick one. Dollaway via submission in round 1.
Grice vs. Gugerty – I’m honestly not very familiar with Gugerty, but I know he lost a well-fought bout against Spencer Fisher. Fisher is a much better fighter than Grice. By that logic, I’ll favor Gugerty here. Gugerty via Unanimous decision.
