Why does my boyfriend want to turn me into a Barbie doll?
He feels I should wear skirts and dresses more often, trainers (sneakers) and jeans less often, wear more makeup, get my hair styled (as opposed to just getting the split ends tided up), get my ears pierced, lose a few pounds (I’m not overweight according to my Body Mass Index chart, but I’m not ultra-skinny either), etc
Why are these things so important to him?
I’m feeling ultrapissed about it all, I want to be loved for who I am, not what I dress like or how low my dress size is, and I certainly don’t want to be in a long term relationship with someone who is constantly wanting me to tweak my body or wanting to control my ‘image’.
Do you think I am being unreasonable?
Hey we have the same name!
Well think about it: Everybody knows that the personality counts THE MOST, but it’s not like looks aren’t important at all. He shouldn’t want to change everything about you, and I don’t think he does, but maybe he wants to have someone who looks nice and is super fun. Think about it: You wouldn’t want to drag around a guy that looks like he just came out of the garbage, not saying that you do because I don’t know you, but at least he wants to be honest with you. Talk it out with him, compromise. Good Luck!
