Why don’t they have dolls of other ethnicity’s?
Yesterday while I was shopping for a gift for my neice I noticed in the barbie doll area all they have is white and african american dolls I mean Why don’t they have mexican dolls? They only have dolls other races in special edition I mean why would a mexican and asian child buy a white or black doll.
That’s true. Dolls, especially Barbie ones, of other ethinicities are only available as Special Editions. And no way am I spending over $70 at Toys R Us just on some doll. The marketers should expand their minds and ideas, many countries are trading more and more with Asian countries (even if some people may not like to belive it). It’s disappointing. And about Disney fairy tale princesses, that’s kind of right. Apart from Mulan, who IS Chinese anyway, I think Snow White was the only one who most closely resembled an Asian person, with her black hair- every other feature about her is caucasian. Oh well. Least Disney had the decency to create a princess from India too…(Jasmine) I think some doll company should make more of African dolls, that truly resemble a person who’s, well, from Africa, not the honey tone skinned dolls. I think black people are beautiful, so why not make dolls of them too?
