Do Americans know any Australian slang?
Well if you don’t here’s some for you…
bloke – man
wag – skip school, play hookey
arvo – afternoon
thongs – flip flops
togs – swimming costume
carn – short for “come on”
bloody – very (that was bloody tough)
bluey – someone with red hair
snogging – kissing
footpath – sidewalk
for your sign saying ‘yeild’ ours says ‘give way’
bikkie – biscuit, or cookie
Barbie – BBQ or barbecue
to be a Dag – being really unfashonable, a dag is actually a piece of poo hanging off a sheep’s bum.
Take a leak – go to the dunny (toilet)
Knickers – undies
Nuddy – nude, wearing no clothes
Onya! – good on you.
dodgy – bad, not working (the dodgy quilt ripped)
tomato sauce – ketchup
Yea I was just wondering because I’m aussie.
And where I live people DO speak like that, and we are NOT bogans so shut your face.
Got used to that. Visited Queensland alot.

and aussies don’t pronounce “r” like americans. Like instead of saying “sharrrk”, they say “shak”. And they do not say things that Steve Irin say (RIP).
but they really dont use them alot.
