Help with Barbie lines for a play?
I have to be a Barbie Doll in this church play. (Fun.) And my assignment is to come up with random lines or anything that a Barbie doll would say..ex)Ow! I broke a nail!
Or anything that a Barbie Doll might say to a G I Jo, since a G I Jo is supposed to be my companion throughout the play.
Any ideas would be appreciated, because I’m desperate.. and not creative =P
And they obviously need to be appropriate, its a church play, taking place in a very strict church.
materialism at it’s pinacle, it doesnt necessarily have to be played from a valley girl type persona it could be as a redneck girl who has just won the lottery.
you can be creative if you just start imagining all of the things that a girl that looks they way a barbie looks, it will seem a little funny to do this.
get in front of a mirror and play it out, go with as many stances and walks, postures as you can think of when you see something that you think fits the character or is funny, keep it!
same with your improvised speech, run through as many variations on speech as you can, even do stereo-type dialects sometime’s just improvising the sound can start to give you ideas as to what the character might say.
as you do this in front of the mirror try to remember what you think worked or write it down, even during the day when you arent preoccupied with other things , take time to give it some thought, and when an idea comes to mind get too a mirror and see if it works for you.
do this as often as you have time for, it’l seem kind of strange to everyone else in your home, but just keep going no matter what kind of jibes and barbs you might get, thats the essence of theater.
once you have established what this character looks and sounds like keep it.
then it’s just a matter of adding your own touches to her dialogue/monologue.
