where to meet new friends?

I am 22 years old and i just moved too a new country to study
since my friends were not the size of barbie dolls, and would not fit in my suit case, they didn’t come with me :p
i was hoping to make new friends at school we are 60 in my class, but now its been 4 weeks and i have found out that i do not connected with any of them, and even if i did 95% have a boyfriend or girlfriends ….
so now i spend my saturdays alone at home……
where should i go too meet new people? where i can strict up a conversation? i have never been friend hunting before…
any advice folks?
Evening activities are usually the best place to make new friends because people choose to do the things they want in their leisure time and meet like-minded people, with whom they have something in common, while they are there.
It could be art lessons, Family History, a Swimming Club, Archery lessons, for example.
