A question for people with kids under 10 years old?
It’s an idea for a kind of ‘pet project’ I’m thinking of doing during my holidays to earn a bit of extra money.
I’m studying art at the moment, and my idea was to advertise to paint/decorate kids walls with their favourite comic book/Disney/cartoon characters/Action Man/Barbie, etc. Because as far as I’m aware, you can’t buy things like this disregarding wallpaper and posters.
And of course, a meeting with the parents to decide what would be going into the room/composition, etc, etc.
1. Would you consider getting this done for your child?
2. How much would you expect to pay for this [including materials]?
Any other feedback/advice would be appreciated.
As you know, I don’t have kids, but I do have younger cousins, and this was a popular idea a few years ago.
I recall one aunt getting a friend of hers to paint her daughters bedroom with these images of really cute tiger cubs ~ I actually watched her work, and it was amazing. When they moved house, I did a little bit of this sort of painting in my youngest cousin’s room.
As I said, it can be a popular concept, though parents may be wary of what they choose ~ kids tastes change as fast as they grow up these days (though there lies potential for redecoration!).
I think the cost really depends on the size of the wall to be painted, and once you have costed your materials, you basically set an hourly labour charge ~ maybe enquire of any professional painter / decorators who offer this service, to see what the average price quoted is.
One thing I do know, regarding materials :
Those little tester-pots of paint are more affordable and will go a surprisingly long way, especially if it’s a colour you don’t think you’ll be using much.
