I need help baking a dome cake….?
I am making my daughter a doll cake using a real Barbie and you have to stack three cakes to create the dress for her. First you stack two 9″ round cakes and then you top them with a dome cake baked in a 2 1/2 qt glass bowl. The problem I have is that the recipe does not tell you how much batter to put in the glass bowl or what temperature or amount of baking time required. I checked the back of the cake mix box and there are no suggestions (only bundt cakes which are normally not glass which I know makes a difference). If you have ever tried this before please give me some tips……
Thanks !
BAKE AT 325 FOR ABOUT 30 MIN IT WILL TAKE A LITTLE LONGER TO BAKE AT THIS TEMP SO CHECK EVERY 5 MIN AFTER THAT. IF YOU SEE THE CAKE IS CHANGING COLOR TO QUICKLY COVER WITH FOIL. THE AMOUNT OF BATTER SHOULD NOT BE MORE THAN 2/3 OF THE BOWL IT WILL RISE OVER BOWL JUST TRIM WITH A SERRATED KNIFE TO MAKE A FLAT SURFACE. REMEMBER WHEN STACKING TO INSERT A DOWEL ROD. HOPE YOUR DAUGHTERS BIRTHDAY IS GREAT.
