What are fun things to do while babysitting a little boy?
I just started babysitting a nine-year-old little boy with Asperger’s. He’s really no different except that he has some socializing problems (he’s pretty timid, as well as some other mild things, but I have a hard time getting him to say what he wants to do).
That said, I really need some help figuring out how to entertain him. Regardless of his disability, I don’t want to bore him to no end or make him sit and play video games all day. My house it pretty sparse when it comes to toys (that aren’t Barbie dolls)…but anything helps.
You could go to a park, play ball in the back yard (you only need a ball from the dollar store), play with the hose (he will need a swimsuit), color, have him help you bake something (cookies or cupcakes), and make sure to ask his parents what he is really into. Many children with Aspergers have a favorite thing to do. Hope this helps!
