Should I address this issue at work?
i work at jc penney a very diverse store i was looking through the new Christmas catalog and it shows the baby dolls. in big black letters they wrote ethnic on all the dark babies but nothing on the white babies. obviously you can tell the babies are much darker so why even label. or if your going to label, label all not some
also Webster divines ethnic as of or relating to large groups of people classed according to common racial, national, tribal, religious, linguistic, or cultural origin or background
so arent we all ethnic?
many of my coworkers were a little offended by this especially during this small racial tension during the presidential debate.
so basically should i contact the company about this or just brush it off?
I think that if it is bothering you this much, then you should definitely address the situation.
I would recommend making an anonymous complaint to head office though, not as an employee, but as a customer. That way, you are free to speak your mind without the fear of your position at work being affected.
