which collectible baby doll do you think is more worth the money?
i am stuck between 3 collectible baby dolls on which 1 i am going to buy. they are

*”Katie” by Linda Webb for Ashton Drake Galleries
*”Charlie” by Linda Webb for Ashton Drake Galleries
which one is the better one? plz. im stuck.
i know i want a girl baby doll but when i saw charlie i changed my mind. in other words charlie is the exception. but oh who am i kidding i have no clue on which one to get! im leaning towards katie, but then charlie. so now its between “Katie” and “Charlie”
Are you buying this as an investment, or just for yourself? How well do Ashton Drake dolls in general hold their value? I looked up some retired ones on Ebay and they seemed to be
selling rather low….but I don’t know what the original prices were. I run into the same problem with my Mme. Alexanders. In spite of the name, many of the modern dolls just aren’t good investments. They seem to loose their value (as do many of the modern mass-produced dolls) the minute you walk out of the store. I really think some of the antiques are better investments, but they tend to be more expensive.
As a museum curator, I’ll also say that there is still some concern about the vinyl dolls- we don’t know what vinyl will do in 50 or 100 years, although that hasn’t kept Barbie’s prices down.
Just off the top of my head, I’d say that if any of the dolls are limited editions or numbered, or if they were produced in small quantities, of course get the lowest number you can. Other than that, all three of these were quite ADORABLE and I think I’d pick the one I liked the best. Do you want to dress the doll (if you’re going to dress it) as a little baby boy in a cute suit or a little girl in a dress? Maybe you have some old baby clothes already that you’d like to use. I’d dress her/him (keeping the original clothes, of course) maybe put her/him in a baby buggy or toy crib to display, and then just enjoy the doll!
