Can anybody tell me about this coin I found?
I found a coin. On the front there is an eagle with the word token above it and there is a border of stars. There is nothing on the back but to valleys
BQ: Is a half-dollar from 1962 or 1964 worth anything?
It’s a token, just like it says. It’s not a coin. Coins are government-issued money.
Who issued the token and why are anyone’s guess. There have been thousands and thousands of different tokens made. Some for use in commerce as exchange for merchandise, and many, for commemorative purposes.
A 1962 or 1964 half dollar is a Franklin (1962) or Kennedy (1964) half dollar. It is 90% silver and worth roughly $6.85 just in the silver, though a coin shop would pay no more than $6. It’s worth more than the silver value only if in mint state uncirculated grades.
