How can I easily tell the value of an old silver dollar?
I have two old coins given to me from my grandma. I just want to know what they are worth but every time i look i get a confusing PCGS chart. I have one 1972 coin with eisenhower on the front and another from 1922.
The 1922 dollar is called a Peace dollar from the word “PEACE” on the reverse, and it is made of 90% silver. There were several Peace dollars made in 1922 so it is fairly common. The value of the silver is almost $10 currently. If the coin is worn, it will not be worth much more than that. If it has a D or S mint mark below the “ONE” and near the tip of the eagle’s tailfeathers, it might be worth just slightly more. If it is in very nice condition, it might be worth $20 or a little more. The Eisenhower dollar probably is not worth as much. If the edge appears very dark, it is likely nickel clad copper which may be worth $2 to someone. If there is an S mint mark under the Eisenhower bust and/or if the edge appears similar in color to the face of the coin, it might be made of silver, and you might consider taking it to a coin expert.
