What is the value of a couple of American Coins?
I have these 2 Liberty Dollars (I believe) dated 1878 and 1885. They have been circulated, but still in pretty good shape. Are they worth more than weight in silver? What could they possibly be worth? I also have about 4 un-circulated Sacajawea dollar coins. Can you please tell me what those might be worth if any? Thanks.
The 1878 and 1885 Dollars are likely Morgan Dollars though they made the much rarer Trade Dollars in those years as well. The silver melt value is just over $13US right now. If they are Morgan Dollars, they might have a mint mark above the DO in DOLLAR: plain, Philadelphia; CC, Carson City; O, New Orleans; S, San Francisco.
1878 plain has several varieties which would be worth from $15US to $80US in circulated grades.
1878 S $15US to $40US in circulated grades.
1878 CC $30US to $200US in circulated grades.
1885 plain & O $15US to $30US for lower circulated grades.
1885 S might be worth a bit more than that, say $15US to $75US.
1885 CC much more, say $100US to $700US.
The Sacagawea Dollars are not worth much more than face value, and they will not likely be worth much more than that for a long time. I hope that helps.
